The Police Activities League is a youth crime prevention program that relies on educational, athletic and other recreational activities to cement a bond between police officers and the youth in our community. SJPD's PAL is one of the oldest citizen-building youth programs in the nation. It is based on the conviction that young people - if they are reached early enough - can develop strong, positive attitudes towards police officers and the law.

The San Jose Police Activities League, known simply as PAL, was founded in 1967 with a few youngsters, a few dollars and dreams of assisting the youth in our community. What once was a dream is now a reality. Some 10,000 young people are currently participating in PAL programs.

PAL's sports complex, built with donated funds, is a reminder of the community commitment to its youth. The complex, which is located at King Road and Highway 280 in San Jose, features lighted softball, baseball, football and soccer fields.

PAL's formula for success is simple. It consists of dedicated police officers and dedicated civilian volunteers working together for one cause - the development of our youth.

• To guide youngsters toward responsible and mature citizenship.
• To provide a common platform of growth for police officers, youngsters and citizens.
• To encourage the American principle of good will, friendship and sportsmanship.

San Jose PAL is a non-profit organization, recognized by the Federal Government under section 501(c)(3), tax number 94-1681065. All donations to San Jose PAL are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
