Solemn Mass for the Solmemnity of St. Francis of Assisi
Sunday, October 4 | 11:00am
The Feast of St. Francis, October 4, is a very special day at the Cathedral. St. Francis born in 1181 and died in 1226, founded the Francisco Order. He dedicated his life to repairing the church by living a life of a poor man and in harmony with all creation. He is the patron saint of the City of San Francisco, of Italy and of all who work to protect the environment. The principal celebrant of the mass will be Archbishop George Niederauer. Music will be provided by the Cathedral Choir with Cathedral Music Director Dr. Christoph Tietze on the Great Rufatti Organ.

This day is also one which has grown in the practice of blessing pets and animals.
