What is the Little Flower Festival?

In conjunction with the Cathedral Festival of Flowers, the Little Flower Festival is a showing of floral arrangements by liturgical art & environment ministers from our archdiocesan parishes. The showing of these arrangements in the Cathedral Event Center will take place concurrently from October 1st - 4th with the display of professional arrangements in the Cathedral.

The Little Flower Festival welcomes entries from parish floral designers of all skill levels, traditions and religions to share, learn and celebrate floral design in sacred spaces

About this year's Little Flower Festival theme:
Rooted in Culture, Flowering in Faith

This year, the Cathedral Festival of Flowers celebrates its International Year, welcoming designers from Europe coming specifically to create arrangements for St. Mary's Cathedral. In so many of our local parishes, international and multicultural diversity is a daily reality. This year, in a special way, the Little Flower Festival welcomes and encourages floral arrangements for sacred spaces that may reflect a specific ethnic or national aesthetic while remaining true to a Catholic vision for sacred art and environment. Of course, this theme is simply an umbrella for any and all entries! Design for your Church according to your best sensibilities. If a national aesthetic happens to be a part of your design, it will just add to the flavor of "The International Year"!

What are the guidelines for the Little Flower Festival?

  1. Entries are limited to one per parish.
  2. Arrangements may not occupy a space larger than 5' (feet) wide x 4' deep x 7' high.

  4. Artificial flowers or greens, fountains, recorded music, and extra lighting are not permitted. Dried flowers, wood, stones, bricks, and textiles are permitted. A maximum of one statue, icon or sacred image is permitted, but not required. Arrangements that leak water may be removed.
